Obvious Pairs technique
This technique is very useful to know when you have the same pair of numbers in two cells withing the same block.
In this video, we will show you how to solve sudoku using the Obvious Pairs method.
To take advantage of this method you must find 2 cells within the same block that contain the same pair of notes and no other numbers.
To understand better, let’s look at the picture. The bottom right block contains 3 cells with numbers that are repeated: 1, 2 and 8.
However, only the cells in the upper row satisfy the Obvious Pairs requirements, as the third cell contains an extra number which is 1.
This means that numbers 2 and 8 will be in the upper row, and we can safely disregard any other potential 2 or 8 inside this block.
