Same as the X-Wing technique, but with a slightly different name and equally simple solving process 🙂
In this video we are going to show you how to use the Y-wing technique for solving Sudoku.
To take advantage of this technique, first you must find a field with exactly two numbers (highlighted in blue). This field is called a pivot.
Then, you need to find two more fields with two numbers in each, but they should be in the same row, column or block as the pivot field. These fields are highlighted in yellow and called pincers.
The pincers should share one number with those in the pivot field. In this case, those are 7 and 8. And the other number should be the same for both pincers.
Now, look at the field where pincers meet. If that field contains a number shared by both pincers, we can safely disregard the number (in this case, that’s the number 4).
